  • Am I going to get hurt?

It would be negligent of me to say absolutely not. In my time as a martial artist, I’ve seen some serious injuries, but they were easily avoidable through proper precautions. I have never suffered any serious injuries myself, and my students have never received any injuries more severe than small bruises, scratches, or sore muscles. Nonetheless, a beginning student will focus on forms and meditations for the first few months, without combat contact at all. No students are required to do anything they don’t want to.

  • Meditation... is that religious?

That is a debate for many. Although meditation is practiced by certain religious sects, I don’t feel it is subversive to one’s belief in any deity. It is my opinion that meditation is as harmful to one’s religious beliefs as yoga, tai chi, or enjoying a cup of chamomile tea. Once again, no student is forced to do anything they disagree with.

  • What kind of belts or grades do you get?

None. If you want material proof that you are better than someone, this is the wrong system for you. If you want colorful belts, I know a supplier that sells them cheap. You study this method to become a better person, and you, if you are honest, are the only person that knows when you are becoming better. This is a very simple art. The basics can be taught and learned quite quickly. Mastery may take a lifetime of practice. Martial Art is not so much the destination, but how you get there. Students will advance, always learning new things. There is always another form. A new weapon awaits understanding. This isn’t as much a school as it is a way of living.
